The Western Quebec Seismic Zone
is monitored by 9 seismic stations:
MNT (Montréal, Québec),
TRQ (Mont-Tremblant, Québec), WBO (Williamsburg, Ontario),
GAC (Glen Almond, Québec), OTT (Ottawa, Ontario),
GRQ (Grand-Remous, Québec), CRLO (Chalk River, Ontario),
SADO (Sadowa, Ontario) and EEO (Eldee, Ontario)
These stations belong to the
Canadian National Seismograph Network.
The uptime for these stations was very acceptable in 1999, ranking over 90%. One must note however that the clock of GAC is not synchronized with the remainder of the network. Data from this station is continuously archived on optical disk Taking into account the distribution of local network in the Canadian network, any event with magnitude 2.0 or higher would be located. |
| Recorded earthquakes |
About 96 earthquake were recorded as shown in the
map(the epicenters are circled in yellow or red if the magnitude is >= 3.0)
and described in the list.
Besides some isolated and low magnitude events, the large majority of them occurred inside the recognized Western Quebec seismic zone. |
| Felt earthquakes | According to the reports of citizens and journalists, ten of these earthquakes were felt locally. |
| Blasts | Numerous blasts were recorded but are not shown in the map and the list above. |
| Induced earthquakes | No earthquake induced by the water level variations was recorded during the time period. |
